About Me (In My Own Words)
I am a very active person- hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and more. But I would be DESPERATELY short of breath for the first 30-40 minutes of any workout. I visited 10 specialists before I was diagnosed with a failing mitral valve. Surgery was 2/5/20 - just DAYS before all elective surgeries were cancelled due to COVID. I can’t believe that such a major medical procedure is so routine! Within a few months I was back hiking, biking, and even kayaking. A year (to the day) after the surgery I entered a kayak race - my first in several years. 14 months post surgery I climbed Mt Whitney (22+ miles in a single day). I am thankful for my health, family and friends, and good health insurance!
