About Me (In My Own Words)
Moderate stenosis apparently identified via ECG in 2019 (i have no recollection of the test), but no discussion of this at that time. Lipids and BP all acceptable ranges.
Severe AS diagnosed Nov 7/2025. Lipids and BP hi. Statin and BP prescribed.
6 weeks later (December 19/2025 all ranges excellent and controlled. Bp med stopped due to light headedness.
met with surgeon dec 18, and cardiologist Dec 23, 2025.
SVAR recommended.
Angiogram scheduling in progress awaiting date, as of Dec 30/2025.
otherwise asymptomatic.
Prior to diagnosis, skated ice hockey as a referee 15-25 hours per week (sept-march) and then 10-15 april-august.
Enjoyed running 5km 2-3x week. Ended Sept/2024, due to Detached Retina procedure. Once healed tried to begin again april 2025. Was harder to sustain lung capacity. Noticed shortness of breath. Figured it was due to layoff, and getting old, lol. decided to stop running summer 20025. vigorous walking was hard on hills, shortness of breath, and very minor pain. Never had to stop. No black outs, no arm pain, no neck/jaw pain, no sweating etc. Couldn’t be my heart, could it?
Sept 2025, return to winter skating hockey and now noticeable “discomfort” (shortness of breath) when extreme effort was needed.
Non smoker, otherwise healthy, active, m66 at time of diagnosis.
Excerise 15m twice daily (body movement chi swing and lymph system tapping), and walking 15-20km per week. 3-7x weekly, depending on weather.
Resistance strength training 2x week focus on core. planks etc. No Pushups.
