I have had mitral valve prolapse for as long as I can remember. Have been having issues with macular degeneration, double vision (diplopia), right sinus/eye pain, which gradually increased over the past three or so years to include headache, neck pain - again all on the right side. Numerous doctors visits have not provided any real help. Suspected it was originating from tooth extraction site, which is a rather controversial diagnosis, but have even gotten differing opinions re that from 'biological' dentists and alternative doctors, and have suspected most recently that the dentists may be afraid to do anything because of my heart issues, but don't know that to be fact, either.
This spring I was feeling a lot worse, and found out I have tri-cuspid regurgitation as well as the mitral. Seems no choice but to do heart surgery.
Out of 4 different hospitals, Lenox Hill and Dr. Patel are the only ones recommending a minimally invasive approach, as I have a rather 'concave' center chest area. I hope this is going to be my best choice.
