I was diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve at age 63. When I was in my 20's a pcp had told me he heard a heart murmur; however, no one ever mentioned it again. In 2023 I started having symptoms including breathlessness, neck pain and jaw pain. A heart cath showed critical aortic stenosis. I opted for an On-X mechanical valve and had open heart surgery on October 30, 2023. I am currently prescribed Warfarin, aspirin and a statin.
