About Me (In My Own Words)
On 9/28/20, I had a heart attack that resulted in two stents being placed in the RCA. I’m 50 and was very active prior to the HA. I completed cardiac rehab and felt great until February 2021, when I became increasingly short of breath, had limited stamina and developed an high frequency of PVC’s. Numerous tests and med changes revealed severe mitral regurgitation. I met with three surgeons and chose Dr. Gillanov to complete the replacement of my mitral valve. He does not think it is repairable and I am leaning towards a tissue valve. I am an SLP in an elementary school so I will be returning to work for a few days in late August before surgery. I’m a bit worried about returning because it is a physical job that is high stress and demanding. Thanks for reading and I am looking forward to meeting others in the same boat!
