I am 57-year-old active 8x Ironman with a bicuspid aortic valve that has progressed to severe stenosis. Athletic performance has deteriorated significantly over the last 18 months and I'm symptomatic. Hard to breathe at easy efforts, chest pain, and CHF-like symptoms, including water retension and swelling in extremities. I am awaiting consult with the surgeon.
