About Me (In My Own Words)
I retired from my position as an RN, certified diabetes educator, in May 2017, as I was feeling very exhausted when at work. After a random trip to my family physician for a prescription, he took the opportunity to do my vital signs, and heard a heart murmur. My Mother had open heart surgery when she was 69 years old so based on my family history, had an ECHO, followed by an urgent referral to a heart surgeon. Had a mitral valve repair in December 2017 at age 69. Repair was unsuccessful, so had a mitral valve replacement and a tricuspid valve repair in February 2019. Developed Afib after surgery, had a cardio conversion in May 2019 which was successful.
Life has been normal since that time. Thought is was time for me to come back to this wonderful blog, to give support and answer any questions regarding my experience.
