I was first diagnosed with a leaky mitral valve in 2024 and had two MitralClips implanted. Then in March 2025 they finally found after couple of months of tests etc that both my aortic and mitral valves were infected - possibly due to a tooth extraction back in January of 2025. I was on a feeding tube first through the nose and later through my stomach for 6 months after the surgery because I had developed a swallowing problem. I was in bed with my head elevated most of the time during that period. Beginning in late 2025 working with a PT my strength slowly returned including my balance. Since then I have been slowly improving. It has been a long tough road back.
