About Me (In My Own Words)
My aortic stenosis was diagnosed by my GP during my annual physical. After four years of monitoring my valve, I decided to do a valve replacement instead of a TAVR so I would not have to have major surgery when I would be about 85 years old. I am trying to be realistic about dealing with the surgical pain and still being optimistic about recovering quickly. I am grateful for the great advice offered by Adam Pick’s book, A Patient’s Guide to Heart Valve Surgery.
