About Me (In My Own Words)
In 2017, during a routine medical examination, my doctor detected a heart murmur. Subsequent echocardiogram tests revealed moderate mitral valve regurgitation. Fast forward to 2022, just two weeks after my 40th birthday, a follow-up consultation indicated that the condition had escalated to severe. Consequently, I underwent open heart surgery in hopes of repairing the valve. Three days post-operation, I was informed that, although the leak had been reduced, it wasn't completely resolved. This news was disheartening as I had hoped the worst was behind me. Since then, I have been undergoing semi-annual check-ups and echocardiograms, with the looming concern that the regurgitation might once again become severe, possibly necessitating a valve replacement and another round of OHS.
