4 years ago I was diagnosed with a Bicuspid Aortic Valve and a Aortic Aneurysm. After 4 years of "watchful waiting" with yearly CT and Echo tests surgery has become inevitable. The aneurysm has grown to the point where it needs to be removed and replaced. I created this to get some insight from others who have or are going to have open heart surgery and to also keep my friends and family up to date with my progress post op. My wife, who I have known for 29 years, has seriously been the rock of this whole situation. Without her I would be a complete mess! I have two beautiful, awesome sons that make getting through this a little easier. I also have some of the best friends and family you could ask for and the love they are already sending will never be taken for granite. I wish more people had this circle of people like I do! I honestly am scared shitless about my upcoming surgery and hope that I can learn from some others experiences on this site. Cheers!
