About Me

I've known about my bicuspid aortic valve and mild stenosis since 2011. 2017 turn a dramatic change and symptoms became obvious. I tried to get into a study at Henry Ford Hospital where the do TAVR procedures on bicuspid valves but was turned down by Edwards Life Sciences. I was trying to avoid the more drastic surgery options if possible and then doing a little research, I found out about a right anterior mini-thoracotomy procedure at William Beaumont Medical Center in Royal Oak, Michigan. Dr Sakwa does more of these procedures than any other surgeon in the country. Best of all, it only and 1 1/2 from home and recovery time can be much less than traditional SAVR
