Welcome to the community! It's scary when they tell you that you need open heart surgery, but even crazier when you have only known about the murmur for a short time. All the best going forward!

Yes ......welcome to best OHS support system ever - this website! Keep us updated with your appointments and when you schedule your surgery. We are all here for you If you have a chance to do so, interview a few surgeons before you make a decision and set a date.

It does feel a little like "hurry up and wait." I was told in January 2016 that I needed to have valve repair (right before knee replacement surgery), but all the tests, etc. seemed to be scheduled so slowly. I finally had surgery in October. In a way, I envy... Read more.

So true Phyllis about the ones who are lucky enough to get it done quickly, less time to anticipate, and if you're like me watch every open heart surgery video you can find on YouTube🤔🤯🤠😷💁

Watching the videos scared the bleep out of me, but I was still happier knowing what was ahead rather than staying in the dark. Many of the hospitals have videos on their sites too.
