Walter Veinotte Papapete161, I got a Edwards SAPIEN XT transcatheter Aortic valve. Supposed to be good for at least 10 years, but they haven't been on the market any longer than that. So it might be good for 100 years. Would be nice but I think the rst of me would give out before the valve. Walt

After learning to 2 years ago I had bicupsip aortic valve stenosis, thinking I had a few years (DR said 2-5 before surgery) But with increasing shortness of breath, DR ordered heart cath, and it showed severe stenosis. Surgery was recomended before end of year. Surgery is scheduled for Dec. 10. This site has been wonderful for information and and a sense of not being alone in this. As you read others journals you get a good handle on what to expect. As Terrie said, don't hesitate to ask questions, those who had gone before, are great to share. Adam's book is great too, but you don't have time to read it! So, be assured this is not a rare surgery anymore, and we are so blessed to live in a time it is so fixable. Let us know how you get along. Prayers will be going up for you.

I had surgery for aortic stenosis in August and I am in recovery phase and doing well. It looks like you will be there in no time at all too....I wish you a smooth surgery and good recovery and happy that you were fortunate to have them catch
the stenosis before it progressed any further. Will be hoping to see you post of your experience with surgery and if you need any words of advice on recovery time or just some support you are at a place with many people who have the ability and will to help out. Best wishes..........
