Susan Lynn Welcome, Susan! Congrats on your recent surgery and induction into the recovery club! Sleeping is a problem for just about everyone after OHS. For a few weeks, forget about the clock -- sleep whenever you feel like it. You'll eventually get back on your regular schedule. Find something to do when you're awake to pass the time and you'll be fine.
The emotional piece can be a few different things - it could be the anesthesia working its way out of your system, medications, or the fact that you were just through something pretty traumatic. I would suggest that you speak to your surgeon's office, cardiologist, or PCP, if it persists as post-op emotions after heart surgery can be addressed. You may also want to enroll in cardiac rehab. It helps to meet other heart warriors and the exercise is uplifting. Finally, you have us! We've been there - so feel free to post what's on your mind - there is always someone here to help. You'll get through this, one day at a time, just like we all did. Stay positive!
