I was sorry to read that your husband passed shortly after your 58th anniversary. I pray that we both get to see our 60 th. I am very lucky to have shared my life with such a fantastic wife and mother. She has made me a better person. Hope you are still doing well after your surgery. As i write this at 5:30 am having been up an hour due to someone with 4 legs saying rise and shine dad, i feel blessed to have reached 82 and still have the ability to work, walk shadow and enjoy driving my car to shows. Not ready to go quite yet. Stay well.

Here is a little bedtime tip that was very helpful to this 80 year older after my surgery.i had no recliner and the old, swing your legs over the side of the bed theory was very painful. Ringing a bell for my wife was also very painful in another way. So i took 2 belts and hooked them together for length and attached one end to the bottom bed post. Just that little extra boost gave me enough oomph, so i could exit the bed with no pain. A year later i tried ringing the bell just for kicks. Not good.

Kimberly Eisenhut You just made me chuckle Richard! There are days I feel like a "vegetable" and I am only 58! LOL😂 My kids are in for it I guess! Time to pamper mom a little, I've been doing it all since I was 20 years old. Still am with an 18 year old, but he is a big help. He does dishes, vacuums upstairs and staircase, garbage duty, lugs laundry downstairs and back up, takes my orders to post office every day and takes dogs out a lot! No fence where I live now, so many potty trips! Oh, he cooks dinner with me most nights too! He's a pretty good cook :) I tell him he got the "old, tired" mom and his brother and sister got the super energy, do everything mom.

Rose Madura My dearly departed Mom used to give us a bell to ring when we were sick. She was a wonderful woman. I miss her. All this bell talk made me think of her.
Richard Munson I only rang that bell once and shortly after my bell was rung.
Susan Dunne The kids I refer to are my Grandson and his fiancee. My Son is 54
Ana Brusso Rose, so sorry for your losing your mom. They are sorely missed. 🙏❤️🥰😍🤗🌹

Dear Susan , I was admitted to my local hospital and then eventually transferred to the Yorkshire Heart Centre . I was nursed in isolation until my covid screening came back as normal . It was a surreal time to be a patient . My heart surgeon was amazing and saved my life . This was during covid times when everything was very difficult for everyone . No lovely cushions but we had white clean towels that were rolled up and secured with micropore tape - to hold when coughing or sneezing to protect our post op sternum !
Susan Dunne Wos.Thank heaven you had much a wise surgeon and caring staff

Hi Susan , You are doing really well . I have a Jack Russell too , they are great fun and vert clever little dogs My surgery was during covid times and things were very different . GP's were not seeing patients face to face . No visitors allowed on the wards . Patients not allowed off the ward until the day that they were discharged. Staff off sick with covid . Unnecessary deaths . I nearly died because I couldn't get a doctor to see me . I had a severely leaking mitral valve and ended up in a very bad way prior to eventually getting admitted to hospital as an emergency . I had to wait for surgery because the anaesthetists were off sick with covid . They were difficult times for everyone . I met some amazing people and have stayed friends with some of them . Thankfully , when you have your surgery you will be having it at a " normal " time and things will be better for you . This lovely community is here to listen when feel worried .
Richard Munson Get ready for the walk of your life. When finished you’ll be begging for heart surgery. Lol.

Susan Dunne Shadow is beautiful. I have two little pups, Jack Russels, Seamus and Sable. Thanks for the message. I just wanted some positive thoughts and reassurance, I guess. I never thought that I wouldn't go through with it. I know I have to do this now rather than later. So glad I found you all. Thanks.

Richard Munson Jack russells are high energy the same as siberian huskies. We have one in our training class on tuesday nights. After my surgery 3 years ago, our devoted and loyal alaskan malamute cassie stayed by my side until she felt i was getting better. No mean feat as she was 120 pounds of powerful sled dog. She sadly died later that year from bone cancer but she remains in my repaired heart forever. If you look at my post picture it shows her on the bed with me the day i got home. Shadow is our downsize. Lol. Only 60.

I just read your kidney post. I think you can “what if “ yourself out of anything if you only concentrate on the sad stories and not the good. If you read this site long enough you will see that the success stories far exceed the not so good by a huge percentage. What in life is 100%. Probably nothing. Not knowing your particular situation other than you are up there in age ( like me) contrast the odds of you recovering and living out your life in good health versus doing nothing and spending it with a failing heart valve. Lord knows, being over 80 comes with its share of aches and pains ( i know being 82) but you only have one heart. I have them and try not to let them get me down. How often have you said i used to be able to do this without breaking a sweat. Maybe i should fed ex shadow down to you for a week or 2 to get your blood pumping.Of course you are nervous, we all were. I offer you prayers and the strength to get this done. There are a bunch of success stories here rooting for you. Sorry you live so far away or you could join me, nancy and shadow on our daily 3 miler.
Barbara deLoache Richard.. you offer a lot of encouragement.. thank you!!
