Hi Ron, I am Linda, a \"newbie\" since your last journal entry. Nice to \"meet\" you. I am scheduled for aortic valve replacement and possible aorta repair (aneurysm) on March 13th. Sorry to hear of your set back. Hope you are now headed for full recovery. Did they tell you why you got the effusion so far out from surgery? Any tips you can give me about the surgery will be greately appreciated. Feel better soon!

Ronald Fuller Hi Linda, I hope your surgery went well! I have not been on line for a while and I just saw your post. Thank you for your support. It seems that my effusion was caused by some left over blood from the surgery that was trapped in the pericardium and it took a while to start irritating the lining. Then the heart started to try and fix itself and produced a bunch of fluid, like about 1Liter so I needed help. It looks good now though and the surgery they did seems to have taken care of that issue. Full steam ahead.
Ronald,
Good luck to you on Oct. 18th. I am scheduled for Mitral Valve replacement on October 17th. We can compare notes as this adventure unfolds.

Ronald Fuller Thanks guys for the words of encouragement. It is comforting to know that there are others out there going through the same thing, and that there are many more out that that have alrerady gone through it. Just to know that the majority of surgeries go off with out a hitch and that you just have to keep pluggin helps keep me from going crazy with anxiety.

Ron I was interested in your comments on your pressures going up significantly - Can you share how much they had gone up. My veneous pulmonary pressure was the red flag that said I needed open heart surgery but mine was the mitral valve. Had it done 12 July 2011 at Cleveland Clinic. Thanks for sharing

I went to The Cleveland Clinic May 17th and they downgraded my condition from the moderate that my local cardiologist told me to the critical that I actually am. I\'m .08-.09 but gradient is still holding. I\'m anxious to read more posts from you. Misery loves company and its a small comfort knowing others are feeling the same emotions. So how is your quality of life? Feeling any related symptoms?

Hi Ronald. Sounds like you and I are in the same boat. A week ago from today my Dr. told me I had entered the \"critical\" stage and will need surgery soon. I get my cardio cath today and will hopefully meet with a surgeon next week.
This site has been amazing. It\'s so helpful to hear successful stories, so reassuring. Anyway, know that you are not alone. I\'m walking this road with you.
