Peter Luxenberger  Thanks for all the encouragement this site has provided from it's members. To Adam for this great website with all the interview's it has helped a lot only wish that I found it sooner. I can't believe surgery  is only 2 days away. I am a little anxious not because of the surgery just wanting to get it done. I am very comfortable with the surgical team at UCLA, it will be nice to get on the road to recovery getting back to a normal life.  So now I am in the hands of Dr. Shimon and his surgical team, along with my Father in heaven and a son Jesus.

Two days away is a great feeling because it's time to start feeling better. I got some advice that worked for me on the day before surgery so I'll pass it along. Make sure you eat and eat well. Have breakfast and eat protein. Eat a light lunch so you can have an earlier dinner and not feel weighed down when you decide to go to sleep. I had pasta, chicken, and broccoli with olive oil for dinner the night before. Whatever you decide to eat, make it something you like and look forward to eating. We need strength before surgery and proper nutrition is essential.

When you get to the hospital, stroll on the journey to the OR. No rushing anywhere. Look at the people helping you and smile. They will smile back.

When you wake up, you're going to have all the help you need. Until then, know that many of us here will pray for you and that we all have confidence that things will be great.

Oh, and don't forget, hug your heart pillow when you cough. It only helps a little, but it helps.

Peter Luxenberger  Thanks for writing back this is the 1st I've ever posted on any site. Information is fantastic, It's been a crazy road in the last 4 months since I found out my mitral valve needs to be repaired.

Marie Myers  Lots of good information and comfort to be had on this site Peter. Like you, I never posted on any type of social media. This site is worth joining, if only to see that LOTS of people go through these surgeries every day.

Nancy W  I also found out by accident the mitral valve prolapse, regurgitation and need for repair. My surgery was in August. Unfortunately, I don’t find this site until several weeks after surgery. It’s been a life saver- everyone is so supportive and helpful, and get it like no one else does. Wishing you all the best as you undergo next steps.

Peter Luxenberger  Hi Marie before finding this site I felt alone. I have only been on the site for a couple days. I feel 100% better reading stories and encouragement from other members thank you for yours. Peter
