This would probably be an unlikely reason for why your sternum hasn't healed (and I don't know any details of your story), but I have heard of there being rare occurrences of sternums not healing due to a nickel allergy. I believe the wires that most surgeons use contain some nickel (along with other metals). If you are sensitive to most earrings (but can wear sterling silver or 24kt gold) it is possible you have a nickel allergy. If there is no other explanation as to why your sternum isn't healing, it might be worth looking into getting tested for an allergies to metals.... ???? Hope it all gets figured out soon so you can finally heal.

Welcome to our site Patty. Just read your story and glad your pain got better. Sorry to hear your sternum has not healed. There are other heart warriors here that have had the same issue.
