Hi Michael,

Thank you, for your well wishes. Unfortunately, I had to reschedule my surgery to January 22 now because I came down with Covid on the 26th. I am negative now but the surgeon wants all my congestion gone. I tell you, I never once came down with Covid the last three years until now and I was being super careful too. Now my anxiety is even worse. I hope you are doing well.

Deena Z Feeling great. Took 14 months to fully recover. Those last four months were still “recovery”, because I was still tired in the early eve. That is, 8/8:30 pm felt like 1030pm. But now all good!
My resting HR went from the mid-70s per surgery to low 60s now!

Hey Michael, I am glad you are doing alot better post op. I was reading your story and noticed you originally were shooting for a Ross procedure. In your recent update you said you ended up getting the Resilia tissue valve. I am curious to ask, what made you choose the Resilia over the Ross? I ask because I initially wanted the Resilia, and my surgical team recommended the Ross. I am currently in the recovery phase now. thank you, Michael, and stay safe.

Michael Klusyk Hi Kristian. The primary plan was a Ross Procedure and the alternate was the Edwards. My surgeon opted for the Edwards during surgery and said that my pulmonary valve was too large to be transplanted into the aortic position. It wasn't really a matter of me choosing one over the other and I am happy with the result to this point. Also of course happy that any future valve work needed should be able to be completed via TAVR however I am hoping to get old and never find out if this is the case. Let me know if that answers your question or if I can provide any more clarification. Hope you are doing well!

Kristian M. Michael, thank you for taking the time to respond. That makes sense, I also had those same options, and for my plan b was the Resilia... I read into both options and researched so much that I was going to be happy with whichever decision my surgeon went for. To my surprise when I woke up, they told me the Ross was a success. Doctors also told me that if I ever needed a re-op, it can be done using TAVR. Im glad that all went well for you and you're back to living your normal life again. Thank you once again and be safe.

Michael, I am sending you best wishes and prayers for a successful procedure and quick recovery. I also had surgery at Cedars-Sinai, Smidt Heart Institute several months ago. The hospital care was phenomenal from the operating room staff and surgeons, to the cardiac surgical intensive care nurses and doctors, all the way through discharge. You will be in great hands.

I'm not a Ross patient but am 4 months out from full sternotomy mitral and tricuspid repairs and a Maze and feel terrific. Leave all the hard stuff to the experts and you'll be just fine!

I look forward to hearing updates during your recovery. You will do great and before you know it, you will be hiking the John Muir Trail. I've been waiting since 2020 to walk the Camino De Santiago in Spain. Covid and my "Ross" journey has delayed that. Planning on next Spring. God bless you
