I had double valve replacement plus one valve repair last fall at Cleveland Clinic. It was scary but in the end hardly any pain at all and a fairly rapid recovery. Had to adjust meds since metoporol did not agree with me. AFib only lasted a short time. Not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Fully healed now and feeling the effects of full oxygenation. Hope your experience is as good as mine.

Welcome, Michael! Don't worry about the cardiac catheterization. The name is worse than the procedure. I even declined the sedation and it was completely fine. The actual procedure is about 20 minutes. Focus on clean arteries and watch the fascinating pictures on the screen. It'll be over before you know it. Please keep us posted on your good news! ❤

Rose Madura I was awake too and it is an interesting experience. When they injected the dye and I saw it on the screen, it looked like a road map. I knew it looked good. I was a little loopy and said, "Wow. No THAT'S from eating oatmeal every day." They all got a big chuckle out of it!

Susan Lynn Richard - You're giving me way too much credit. It was quite the opposite - I was terrified of being in the hospital. The nurses told me I could be released an hour sooner if I didn't take the sedation. They didn't have to tell me twice!
I opted for the quick recovery. Also - I have a history of high cholesterol and was convinced that the news was going to be bad and wanted to be coherent when they dropped that bomb - but luckily, clean arteries! A good day all around! ❤
