Karen, if you don't mind, what hospital did your TAVR and who was your cardiologist and surgeon. I see you're from Chesapeake, so I'm thinking maybe Sentara Heart. I'm seeing a cardiologist at Duke, but I might need to switch to Sentara for convenience.

Karen Warren My lead cardiologist on the TAVR team was Dr. Deepak Talreja and my surgeon was Dr. Clinton Kemp. A Dr. Paul Mahoney is Director of the Structural Heart Center. He was also at my TAVR. The number for the Sentara Heart Valve Center is 757-388-6144. The surgical group I used were on the 3rd floor of the heart hospital right next to the Structural heart center office. Let me know if I can answer any questions. Sentara has a video on Dr. Mahoney and Dr. Talreja.

Rich Hahn Karen, were you either intermediate or high risk for surgery? I'm low risk which apparently is forcing me to have open heart surgery instead of TAVR. Medicare won't pay for low risk patients to have TAVR.

Karen Warren It has been a year and I am doing great. I had to post about Fran. She was an Inspiration to me. I was so hoping she would be strong enough for a TAVR. I have witnessed so many TAVR success stories among my TAVR journey. May Pete find comfort in knowing Fran touched people through this site. Thank you for creating this site. It is a Godsend.
