Karen, if you don't mind, what hospital did your TAVR and who was your cardiologist and surgeon. I see you're from Chesapeake, so I'm thinking maybe Sentara Heart. I'm seeing a cardiologist at Duke, but I might need to switch to Sentara for convenience.

My lead cardiologist on the TAVR team was Dr. Deepak Talreja and my surgeon was Dr. Clinton Kemp. A Dr. Paul Mahoney is Director of the Structural Heart Center. He was also at my TAVR. The number for the Sentara Heart Valve Center is 757-388-6144. The surgical group I used... Read more.

Karen, were you either intermediate or high risk for surgery? I'm low risk which apparently is forcing me to have open heart surgery instead of TAVR. Medicare won't pay for low risk patients to have TAVR.
