Hey, Karen. I am two weeks post op tomorrow from my mitral valve surgery. It helped me to do some deep breathing and focusing on knowing how soon I would be in recovery. I still can’t believe how incredibly good those ice chips were when I woke up in ICU. I had a wonderful ICU nurse that first night that guided me through kindness and plenty of attention as I woke up. I was home in 5 days. I pray you have the same experience. Recovery has never been closer!!

Louise Moore Karen, I think you'll be post op when you see this sooooo Welcome to the Recovery Side! I also had mitral stenosis and had a tissue replacement as well as a tricuspid repair. In two days I'll be six months post op and I can tell you life in recovery is much easier than the waiting before! If you go to cardiac rehab, they will guide you so you can learn how far to push yourself. This was important to me because I felt so good, so normal I had to keep reminding myself that I'm recovering from OHS! You'll heal and improve very quickly week after week. Take care, follow the guidance and keep us posted! It's done! You are on your way to a healthier, longer life, congratulations!
