I had a metal heart valve fitted over 5 years ago. I was advised not have full anaesthetic (F/A) after this being fitted but I have just had to have F/A FOR MAJOR SURGERY ON MY RIGHT LEG. I was absolutely fine after F/A. The Anaesthetist told me he had never lost a patient and he wouldn’t lose me.
He completely reassured me and my family at Church prayed for me and I was fine.

Hi Jim: I’m from Clarence, NY and have been living in Las Vegas for the past 13 years. I too have a congenital BiCuspid aortic heart valve and found out in my 50’s. I just had TAVR 2 weeks ago to replace the valve it was 80% blocked. I was asymptomatic and just started noticing more palpitations so I immediately got an interventional Cardiologist involved along with a Thoracic Surgeon and after all the testing went with the TAVR procedure. I’m doing well so far. Had the surgery 4/29 and was home the morning of 4/30. I’m starting to feel a little more confident day by day. I am back to driving and light household chores. Prayers for a successful surgery please let us know how you do. I found mentally I had to do something as soon as possible because at 80% I was a ticking time bomb. PS: I so miss Wegmans, and Bocce and Charlie The Butcher.

Hugh Martin interesting. I was also diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve in my 40s and was likewise asymptomatic. I went on to run over 100 marathons. it is only recently that there has been any evidence of stenosis that will eventually require valve replacement if and when it becomes more severe. Anyway good luck with your procedure.
