Jeamary, Glad you\'re home and doing well, I alos had to have the pericardial operation Monday, I was able to come home Tuesday evening, everything seems to be going well, I\'m back to my 5 mile walk and I suprisingly feel even better. Hi Jeamary-
Glad to hear the surgery went well. Did you have chest tubes for drainage? If so I found once those were removed the back pain lessened quite a bit. No doubt it was hard to get comfy at home and I spent the first 1-2 wks sleeping on the recliner or couch before venturing upstairs and trying to get comfy in our bed.
Hope that your little Jedi is taking good care of you. I bet you were happy to wake up and see your family...
Take care.

Jeamary Garcia Hi Karen,
I did and it is definetly a relief to have them removed, I think that was the worst part... Finally after going to the hospital for that horrible back pain, they discovered I had Pneumonia and Flluids around my heart. I had surgery again last Saturday to removed the fluid around my heart and thanks God I am back home, feeling much better. Hope you doing good!

Hi Jeamary,
Another thing you can try is to sit in a chair and lean over onto a table (I used my lunch tray table). It takes the pressure off your back and gives you immediate relief. It\'s not a fix, only time will eliminate the pain, but for now, it may help. Best of luck,
Michael
Jeamary Garcia Thanks, Michael
I try that and really help me a lot.

Hi Jeamary, the first thing to do is take as many pain meds as allowed, this will allow you to relax your muscles. If the pain is not dulled enough you just tense up more, which then hurts more.
Next get lots of deep breathing done, it may hurt to start, but it gets more comfortable. Add to this some walking. I count my steps and add 50-100 per day. It helps to have the longest walk latest at night . If your tired and have the meds then it\'s easier to sleep.
Finally I sleep with several pillows supporting my back. I tried placing them in a vee shape but that only made my back ache as it.seemed to push my shoulders in - really uncomfortable. So I set up pillows and lay them down against the wall or headboard

Glad you are on your way to recovery. My back bothered me, too. I used a neck pillow. The kind that wraps around the neck and is used for travel. It took the strain off my neck which helped my back. I also used a heating pad.
