Hello Fred,
I have mainly Tricuspid regurtitation and am always told how it is so much more risky and tricuspid is mostly experimental as far as fixing it. I am looking at surgery in the future since I am still in wait and watch mode because they said they dont consider surgery until it is severe with symptoms and I am moderate to severe at this time for the tricuspid. Not that I want surgery, but I am always wondering if all the waiting is doing more danage and when the time comes, my outsome odds will be lower because of the danage it does from waiting so long. Just wondering what your Drs said and what made them decide to do it for you. It seems when there is another valve being worked on, then the tricuspid is always fixed at same time, but when it is only tricuspid, they just dont go in and touch it because it is more risky. Does not make sense to me.

Richard Munson Kim, you are always very incite-full . I agree with you. It stands to reason that a leak is going to get worse the longer it festers and will be harder to fix. True with hoses, and pipes, why not hearts. I wonder if there is an insurance factor here. Hope not. They do have a lot of clout however.

Kimberly Eisenhut I agree, I have come right out and asked that question and been told "No" it has nothing to do with insurance. I do know from research, that tricuspid repair does not have the high rate of positive outcomes as other valves, I guess because the right side of the heart is a bit more sensitive to these kinds of surgeries.
