Hi Craig, I am a retired firefighter from Toronto. I was like you..bucuspid valve, heart murmur. However, I got Sepsis and that got into my heart, doing alot of damage. In surgery, they also found out i had the aneurism as well and fixed that. I was off for 6 months and was fortunate enough to be able to go back to work. I wish you well for your surgery.

Hi Craig,
My diagnosis was just like yours. Went with the biological valve. Doing well. Stay positive and tell yourself "you got this." First three months were the hardest for me. Sleeping on my back just was hard for me. Good luck with your surgery.

Hi Craig
A 29 Perimount bioprostetic aortic valve replaced my calcified tight one back in Dec 2010 at 59 years of age. I had some discomfort along the way i.e central crushing chest pain. My surgeon told me at the time that he would not be around when I needed it replaced i.e, in about 10 to twelve years! Now into my 15th year.
I don't know how I stumbled into your website. Best of luck from Ireland with your forecoming procedure!

Hey brother! I am a 54M retired structure FF who had a Aortic Valve Sparing and Aortic Root Replacement on Oct. 29, 2024. I currently am a contract wildland FF. I was in the hospital 4 days, with no complications. I returned to work as a wildland FF the last week in January 2025. I could have done the gopher stuff around 8 weeks after surgery as that is when my sternal precautions were lifted. Hope your surgery goes well and I will keep you in my prayers.

Thanks for getting back to me on the time lines… I just like having somewhat of an idea so I can set some realistic goals. Glad to hear you are doing well. Stay safe Brother!!!
