Hi Catrina, I know what your feeling as my mitral valverepair failed just 3 months post op, OCT5th,2015. My case is being referred to the Cleveland clinic by my cardiologist, not the surgeon who has completely downplayed the failure. All tests post op show VERY SEVERE MR. I'm going crazy waiting for CC surgeon to call me. I sometimes feel I'm loosing my self identify(competitive athlete in tennis, golf&cycling) to one big medical problem! Before your second ohs how did you keep your spirits up?

Hi Catrina, I read your story and your your journal I had mitral valve prolapse repair surgery on Oct.19,2012. Right after it was done and they were had closing me up I had to have Open Heart surgery because my sutures broke open on my heart. So God brought me through a lot and I am thankfu lfor where I am now. I started having some arythemias over the last few months when I started pushing myself to much. So I did a little research and found out that Magnesium helps with Arythemias along with other vitimans. So I bought Magnesium 500mg and started taking it with my CQ10 and other Vitamins everyday. I did let my Doc"s staff know just to be sure when I dropped off the heart monitor he had me wear for 24hrs. In case he though it wasn't good or to much. I got a call back with the results that he saw some arythemias and told me to take half a meto.each night for now. So I just wanted to share that with you so you can check with your Doctor to see if some Mag.and CQ10 will be ok and possilby help your heart. The kicker is no one told me from the hospital to take Magnesium (usually with Calcium) to help with a-fib which I though I wouldn't have after my first surgery. I don't have it as severe as before though and taking my vitimans, eating bananas and drinking protein drinks all work to help me feel better. Check with your doctor before you try this because we are all different in what we can take without bad reactions.I'll be praying for you.

Welcome Catrina to the Community. It sounds as though you are in good hands with your cardio. Do keep us posted at thing go along. I believe in the power of prayer and so I will add you to my list. We all need prayer on our behalf. I am a Biscupid Aortic Stenosis Value in the severe mode and I am in the 6 month cycle. Nothing has been scheduled yet, but I know it is coming. Your daughter is very pretty in your photo and is certainly a blessing. As I said please keep us posted.
