Hi Barry, Dr. Marc originally thought robotic was an option for me, but because I had waited a year and my tricuspid was also failing, the mini-sternectomy was the best choice. He told me the healing time takes longer, but the pain is about the same. I can certainly vouch that there was not much pain at all. I've only had to take Tylenol. My rib cage must be seeking stability, because I did have severe shoulder blade pain for one day, but that's gone now. I've had no incision pain whatsoever. Hang in there~

Linda Whitney Hi Barry, yes, I got a little thing to carry in my wallet for both Mitral and tricuspid bands (appliances?) so they did fix both. I'm recovering nicely, although sometimes it does feel like I have an appliance in my chest (wringer washer). How are you doing, and how is Chloe? I think my next dog will be a collie, she looks delightful.

Barry Van Gemert Linda, Both Chloe and I are doing well. I go over to CC in two weeks for a consult with one of their cardiologists. If he gives the green light I will get on Marc's waiting list for mitral valve repair.
If you decide on a collie, it will be a great dog for you. She is still very much a puppy and gets into "rascal mode" occasionally, but really a great companion.

Sounds like you have a plan to monitor with your physicians. Suggest including a plan s to when you will get a surgical consult as these gentleman can be scheduled 3 months out. Let me know if you have any questions about my experience. Adam's book and the e-books are good educational tools describing the process.

Barry Van Gemert Michael, being about two hours drive from Cleveland I was thinking the Cleveland Clinic would be my best bet for a hospital. Sounds like there is quite a wait to get a surgery scheduled, and I don't believe I can get anything going until this advances to the "serious regurgitation" stage.
