Hi Barbara, I’m a young 75 , asymptomatic and waiting to have my Mitral Valve repair done at C. C. on April 10th. I’ve been taking it easy, even though I feel fine. Waiting has been difficult, but I finally feel ready. My husband, daughter, son in law, grandsons , family and friends have been incredibly supportive. Looks like we have the same positive outlook….. let’s do this!
Nancy Bukowski Yes,,,, let’s do this ladies! We’re going to be better than ever on the recovery side of this!

Hello Barbara, welcome to the site! I was 42 at my surgery, and had never stayed over in a hospital before then. I think my biggest take-away/eye-opener was how much the RNs run the hospital, but I'm pretty sure you already know that. :) I hope your heart journey is textbook boring!

Barbara deLoache thank you Meredith!! I’m hoping for boring as well. After over 40 years working in the OR, I have pretty much seen it all.. including heart surgery. I am not sure whether that eases my mind or the opposite. I really appreciate your message!💗

Marie Myers Barbara- i sure sympathize! I also worked in the OR for 44 years as a CRNA doing everything at one point or another. I knew I would get through it, but I just didn’t want to go through it! It is way better to be pushing the stretcher than to be in the stretcher!

Welcome. Assume ashville, n.c. When we drove down to ashboro last year to pick up shadow we thought about a side trip to ashville but heard it was not as great as it once was. We ended up not going. Ashboro however was great. We were treated well being northerners. Here it is another year later and our little shadow has grown into a big shadow.
