I saw your post. Congratulations on your mitral valve repair. I had mine 4 years ago at 79. Of course its emotional, after all, its major surgery. BUT, you must have needed it or you would not have had it. It can be worse mentally if you had no symptoms prior to the surgery. Give it time, listen to your doctors, and walk, walk, walk, better days are ahead for you.

Richard Munson Well, if you had symptoms then you must feel better. Glad your middle name is richard. Its a regal name but i may be bias. My yearly echo is in march so i keep hoping that things are the same.

Hi Allan, I think that feeling down after a heart surgery is usual, at least it happened to me as well after my replacement, because that put oneself in front of his own lifespan but we must realize that it gives us also a new chance to fight for a better and happy life, as heart warriors we are in HVS.com and with the help of this community folks

Pamela Gregory Congratulations on a successful surgery Allan! I also was very emotional for some time after surgery. All the worrying before, relief it is over, challenges in recovery, and dealing with your own mortality are to blame I think. Some of it would come out of no where and I believe that there are a lot of heart patients that have had similar experiences
