Just got diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis. I had been quite athletic for last 10 years even participated in races. So it's quite a shock.
Doctor is saying that it's bicuspid and scarred. I'm thinking about TAVR but doctor recommends SAVR due to age. Not sure..

There are many heart warriors on this site who have walked the same path. Hopefully, they'll share their experiences and research. Best of luck to you!

Lynne Anderson Waheed, aortic stenosis happens to the best of us. I'm 65, athletic and still race. Now 10 weeks out from SAVR and being in shape REALLY helped my recovery. Surgeon cleared me to run and cycle at 4 weeks. My cardiologist always told me I'd have TAVR, but things changed over 5 years due to the size/poor condition of my valve and the fact it was starting to create an aneurysm in my aorta which had to be fixed. If the new valve fails in the future, my doctors said they'd use TAVR to replace it.
