Hey all! I’m a 33 year old male living in Raleigh NC I had open heart surgery is six weeks old for valve repair and the Ross procedure done at age 5. I’ve lived an active lifestyle my entire life and still do with no symptoms however I had developed an aortic root aneurysm with a leaky valve.
I am currently seeing Duke Hospital about having open heart surgery for aneurysm, repair, and valve replacement with mechanical valve.
my question is, does anybody have experience having open heart surgery a third time or know of any less invasive surgery options.
Thanks!

Grace Mason Hi Ryan! I don't think surgeries involving both aneurysm and valve replacement are done minimally invasive at this time. However there may be someone doing them somewhere. I think it would be safer using SAVR. I have talked with Cathleen Weed who has had 4 heart surgeries. I believe 3 were SAVR. You could message her and/or read her story using the Find Members option.
