I had aortic valve replacement 8 years ago for a bicuspid aortic valve. I chose a tisse valve, I now have stenosis again and will have a re-do on June 16th. I am currently 61 and need to choose again whether to have a tissue or mechanical valve. I prefer a tissue valve because the risk of bleeding or stroke associated with a mechanical valve scares me. Any feedback would be appreciated. Is there anyone else that had problems with their first valve having such a short life?

Marie Myers I am sorry to hear you are going through this again so soon. I am currently going on 9 years, and I must admit i get a bit anxious getting my yearly echocardiograms. Hopefully some of the people who have been through redo’s will chime in and tell you their experiences.
Rose Madura Robin, I'm sorry you're valve failed after 8 years. God bless you this journey.
