Tyson Boychuk Hey Ricky. Read your story... do you have a cardiologist? My follow up with my surgeon is a phone appointment as well but cardiologist is in person. I'm just over 6 weeks and just starting to try and sleep on my side. It is a little painful but how I sleep the best as well. I tried a couple times at 4 weeks and it lasted for about 10 seconds before I had to shift back to being on my back. I actually got a solid 5-6 hours last night and what helped me was getting a body length pillow and hugging that as I slept. Maybe see if that might help? As for the stitches, they actually glued and taped me so no stitches. There are many types of disolvable stitches for different situations. I know some can last 2-3 months. Great question for your appointment in a couple weeks unless someone can answer on here. Good luck, believe me, I know its tough. Stay strong and confident as much as you can!

Patsy Stewart Ricky, you might try to put a pillow kind of to one side of your back to angle you to your side where you’re not laying flat of your back and also not completely on your side. Hope that makes sense. You can use another pillow to hug for comfort like Tyson mentioned. Is your phone visit only voice or is it like FaceTime where you can see one another? Hopefully, it is where you can see each other and you can show them your scar. If not, perhaps they can give you a phone number where you can send them a picture. Also, make sure to mention that your are having some depression and anxiety issues. They can either help you with that or point you in the right direction to get help. I pray that your pain eases, that you can find peace and that you start getting better.~❤️

Marie Myers I did not sleep on my side till many weeks after my surgery; it was not comfortable for me. I was able to rest better in a recliner which I rented after my surgery. I also agree with Patsy Stewart’s mention of possible depression and anxiety issues. Open heart surgery is a huge experience, and it affects us all differently. I would speak to my doctor or care team about this possibility. Prayers for a full recovery!

Ricky Jenkins Thanks guys for all
Your suggestions and help and advice unfortunately Tyson I don’t have an appointment with the surgeon it’s just a follow-up phone call with the cardiologist so I’m really disappointed I’m gonna have to request if I can see someone face-to-face or a FaceTime appointment as yeah this is a bit ridiculous I’m gonna try that with the pillow hopefully that will help it’s really weird because on my incision scar I have glue and stitches on my scar but some of them don’t look like they will dissolve, the scabs have fallen off but it looks like I have little bits of almost looks like fishing wire sticking out it’s really weird anyway thanks for your help guys it’s good to actually chat on here as everybody is in the same sort of situation with different experiences so it’s always good to share I’ve been referred to this company called I Cope to have CBT therapy just have to wait now for a response. Xx

Tyson Boychuk Oh I misunderstood. Yes I would call your cardiologist and ask for an in person appointment. I know my experience for the most part is everyone had tried to be pretty accommodating. I have one of those stitches in my arm where they graphted a vein from that I am going to ask about on Thursday. I will let you know what they say. Yes I agree. Comforting to be able to talk to people who have gone through similar experiences.

Tyson Boychuk Hey Ricky, just letting you know I seen the cardiologist today and he said those stitches can take a few months to dissolve so nothing to worry about there yet. Hope you are having a better day today.
