About Me (In My Own Words)
Hi there so my name is Ricky and I’m 50 years old. I was diagnosed with a leaking heart valve about 2 1/2 years ago.
So I recently had my operation it’s been four weeks now my pain relief wasn’t dealt with properly in the hospital so I was in a lot of pain even when I left the hospital, things are slowly getting better I can walk okay now can’t really lift too much sleeping is a big problem for me I have been sleeping on my back which is very uncomfortable I’m too worried to sleep on my side as I normally do sleep on my side but having read loads of peoples comments I’m thinking maybe I could just trying to sleep on my side and see how that goes.
This operation has been horrendous for me this very painful I do find that recovery very slow I guess I’m only a very active person actually not doing too much is really boring and it’s so frustrating for me. Unfortunately because of the Covid situation my follow-up appointment with my surgeon is on the 10th of August 2021 but it’s going to be a telephone call which I’m not really happy about because I really wanted them to see how my scar is healing and so on so really disappointed about that. Hopefully when I do call me I can just insist I really want to come to see one of surgeons so they can doublecheck everything is okay also I’ve been suffering from a lot of depression I’m getting really upset feeling very low frustrated afraid on many websites and this is quite normal also been suffering from I’m anxiety I feel that this was due to the fact that I had to self isolate two times as my operation was cancelled twice and it was rescheduled on the third attempt so I had built up a lot of worry and anxiety about having this operation I was just really petrified. So I’ve been told I have dissolvable stitches in the main scar and so at the moment week four it’s still quite scabby and the stitches most of the stitches are still there they haven’t dissolved as of yet I wonder how long it actually take, the painkillers also make me so constipated and bloated which is so uncomfortable. I have to take senna tablets to help with that. Hopefully in another 4-6 weeks I’ll feel back to my normal self but better.
