Last November 2019, I went for a regular checkup with my primary care doctor. I have always had a slight murmur when doctors have listened to my heart. I was told it is benign and not to worry. This time, the doctor listened for a long time. She said since I had turned 60 recently, she would like for me to have a echocardiogram done the next week in her office. So I agreed and showed up the very next week for the test. After three weeks, I called my doctors office to see if she had received any results. I wasn’t worried or even concerned...it was just on my todo list. The next morning, Friday the 13Th, I was awoken to the sound of my phone ringing. I was actually out of town with a client visiting San Diego for a show. It was my doctor on the phone. She said she was very concerned about my test results and admitted she had heard something listening to my heart she had not heard during previous visits. She said the test showed I had Severe Aortic stenosis and would like for me to visit a cardiologist that she suggested that specialized in such matters. I have to admit I was a bit freaked out from the call...especially after I consulted Dr. Google about aortic stenosis. When I got back’ to San Antonio I immediately tried to make the appointment with the cardio guy. Of course...he was off on holiday for a month. Sooo they put me down for an appointment at the end of January. A couple of weeks later things changed drastically.
