Good morning, can anyone tell me their experience as it pertains to fever post mitral valve replacement with a porcine valve, when should I expect it to go away and by when should i be concerned if the fever keeps returninh with achy throat ans chest pain with a crackly sound on that side?

Marie Myers At 7 days post op, the scratchy throat, and some aches and pains are very typical. What is your temperature? Anything over 101 should be reported to your surgeon. You are very early in your post op course, so there will be minor aches and fatigue. Drink plenty of water and try to eat a nourishing diet with high protein for healing. Walk as much as you can, and rest when you are tired. Things will slowly improve day by day. Hope that helps.
