ye-pee! I made it. One year tomorrow June 4th. Hi everyone. I hope you all are doing good. I am completely back to normal now. I can lay on my sides and it feels good and normal. My scar is still a little tender. My nerves in my chest feel a little funny but good. Would I do it again? YES.
Good luck to all of you who will be having surgery and to those who are on the road to recovery. God bless all of you.

Hi everyone. I hope everyone is doing good. Just thought I would update my journal. I am almost 6 months out from my surgery, I can lay flat now but when I go to sit up it hurts like the dickens. I still cant lay on my sides. I saw my surgeon, everything is good and he no longer needs to see me. (yeah) I feel really good and I am glad I had the surgery. My Dr. told me that my valve was the size of a 10 year old child\'s valve. that was a shock. Dr. had to cut my aortic root to make it a normal size for an adult.(wow). Anyways I hope and pray for all of you on your journey to surgery and recovery. God bless all of you.

I was not sure that this was ok to post but my family says that I should let people know what happend to me before my bav surgery. On April 30,2012 I went to the hospital for a routine heart cath. I was not at all prepared for what was going to happen to me. I was wheeled into the surgery room and preped for the heart cath. My dr. was then called out to the ER for an emergency. I ended up waiting for about 40 min.(I didnt mind the wait) when my dr came back he seemed rushed. it took alittle longer than normal because my dr tore my artery in my groin. he thought he got it stopped(i had a really big pressure sand bag type of thing to stop the bleeding on my groin) I was moved to my room where I had alot of nurses pushing on my stomach because they had never seen one that huge and to make sure it was soft(why that made a diffrence I\'m not sure.) I dont know how long I was in the room before I begain to have servere pain in my right side and lower right back. I could not lay still. I called the nurse and it seemed like it took for ever(my sister said it took over ten min.) anyways all of a sudden I see all these nurses and dr.s around my bed and heard a nurse say to get the crash cart now. I remember them doing all kinds of stuff to me. One nurse was putting in a huge IV in my arm. I looked over at the machine that reads your vitals and it was in the red and blinking. I started looking for my sister throught all the nurses and with my eyes I said I love you. The next thing I remember is I stopped moving and I remember thinking awe no more pain.(my sister later told me that I went white as a ghost and my eyes were fixed) the nurse was about to give me the epiniferin shot, I had almost died. I ended up with a huge hematoma, that was worse than having my heart surgery. I had to use a walker to walk and get around. 4 months later I stil hurt in the groin area. I just wanted to pass this on not to scare anyone but to let people know it does happen.
get well and god bless

Once I got home from the hospital on June 7th 2012, I thought I\'m gonna do good. Well that didnt last. A few days later I started getting sick every day. I could not eat. My feet and legs begain to swell so big that it hurt to walk so I dint do any walking. (big mistake) I went to my dr. and he put me on lasix pills. After a few days the swelling went down. A few weeks have gone by. I thought to myself (man I should be doing alot better than this) I could hardly take a deep breath.(yep you guest it) back to the dr. I went. I found out that my right lung was full of fluid(great I though) so i had to have the fulid removed. (man I thought whats next) The dr. took a liter and a half out of my lung. A few days went by and I started feeling better.I had been noticing my incision was leaking, I was told this was normal (ok) days gone by and now it looked nasty. My dr. cleaned it out and put me on antibiotics, I had an infection started( I was careful when I cleaned my incision) to make sure this didnt happen but it did any ways. looks better now. June22nd was my birthday and my family wanted to take me to dinner( I really didnt feel up to it) but I said ok. I got up to go use the restroom when out of the blue my heart went into AF. we waited for 30 to 40 minutes but it didnt go back into sinus rhythm. my boyfriend call 911 and I got a free ride to the hospital. As soon as I got to the hospital, my rhythm was normal. so thats my first month after surgery.(wasnt too fun but I made it)
