Well I didn't have my surgery at KU Med like scheduled. The surgeon called me in two weeks after he scheduled the surgery to cancel. He didn't think KU Med had the technology to handle my surgery "worst case scenario".
So we went ahead and moved to Virginia and I started with a new team at Children's National Hospital in DC.
My surgery will be in the next two months. Waiting to hear from the doctor.
What's frustrating is that two week delay will push us into a new insurance plan and we will start from square one on the deductible.
I can honestly say this has been the most frustrating and anxious time of my life. Ready for it to be over!
Surgery is still 3 weeks away but I'm feeling a lot better. I ordered The Patient's Guide to Heart Valve Surgery and read it in a day. It answered so many questions and the fear of the unknown has greatly diminished.
I cannot recommend this book enough. I really think cardiologist should have this book in the office for their patients.
I went to the doctor a month and half ago for a check-up and left needing a pulmonary valve replacement. After a dozen phone calls back and forth and another doctors visit the surgery is scheduled for July 8, 2013.
I'm a very easy going person but the news of this operation, the details from the surgeon and the waiting is making me a nervous wreck.
