Steve Farthing Greetings, Peg. There are options! You could ask your doc if your mitral valve can be repaired instead which is often possible. Or get a second opinion as to whether it can be repaired or if surgery is even indicated. Could also ask if it is safe to delay surgery and get an echo every 3-6 months instead and take some time to consider your options. What were you told?? Best to you.
