4 weeks out! It gets better every day. heart rate is high. They will be doing a cardioversion and tyknson load in 2 week. I thought the maze procedure would take care of my afib and flutter. Any thoughts out there? Had Mv Replaced/ tricuspid repair/ Maze proceedure/ Laa Ligation !!

Rose Madura There are videos on this site about how prevalent Afib is after OHS. I believe the statistic was that it affects 50% of the patients and of those, 95% have it for only six weeks. Mine must have been textbook because I had Afib and/or aflutter for about six weeks. It was awful for me because I was very symptomatic to everything but the professionals got me through it. Plus of course my faith in God. Hang in there!

Marie Myers I remember being a ball of nerves before surgery; I too, was worried about pain. It turns out that sternal pain was minimal. The overwhelming fatigue, general discomfort, and sore ,achy upper back and shoulders were the worst for me. Do something nice for yourself while you are waiting!

Andrew Dial This can def be a nervous time for any of us.. but I will tell you, I’m excited for you. This is such an amazing part of your life, such a large part of your journey. This is the perfect time to be connecting with others, and researching everything you can on your surgery and see ALL the positive experiences that people have. You are going to do amazing, and we are all here to have your back. The mental game is def a struggle, and you will have good and bad days before and after surgery… but just remember.. Take it One day at a time. Be patient with recovery. Enjoy the process. Learn. Talk to other heart warriors. Feel free to reach out whenever you feel necessary 🙏🏼 -Andy

Louise Moore Hello Peggy! You'll be on the recovery side soon, but - I know the nerves and worry before surgery as we all do. Using guided imagery worked for me even though I thought I couldn't be influenced out of my worry - it worked! My surgery was at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH but included mitral valve replacement, tricuspid repair. I'm sure you'll sail through your surgery and the best part is knowing that when it's done - you are ready to get on with life and live again with annual checkups and a whole lot less worry! Keep us posted and have trust in your experienced Doctors. 👍🏼
