"Birds of a feather, flock together!" The support both given & received here, is the best. Even when the waters are choppy, the support & knowledge shared, helps to smooth things out. Tomorrow is the first day of Rehab at the Hospital.
All of your shining examples have me pumped & ready to go. Courage, Brave Hearts! whether waiting or recovering. Press on. We are not alone. Thinking of each one. Grateful, Thankful, Blessed!
I patiently wait for my rehab to start on Nov. 26. Hope you find yours helpful
I think we both will, Jennifer. Will keep you posted. Looking forward to it. I'm sure it will "stretch" us, but that can be good. We need to be on a solid path after our surgeries, that's for sure!
All those walks along the chilly waterfront paid off yesterday. The stress test was not as stressful as anticipated:) Now to meet with the Nurse, Physiotherapist & Dietician, next Wednesday. Speed on a treadmill is one thing, a steep uphill incline, another. Adding more inclines to this week's hikes.
As others have reported, weeks 7 & 8 of the healing process can be such a sweet relief. After what sometimes seems like a long roller coaster ride, (or "grind"), things are beginning to even out. We all heal differently & these incisions need time. Freedom to do the many... Read more.

Meredith, congrats! I am jealous. Still no green light to drive at my sixth week. Different level of conservatism for my doc, I guess. What stretching exercises? Please share what you've learned! Thanks in advance!
Excellent!!!!!! Freedom feels so good I bet. Congratulations and thanks for the healing tips.
Congratulations to you all bring on the other side. I know each experience is unique. Waiting until December 7 at Loyola Chicago. I love all the information. I truly learn something new every day! Blessings!

Anyone else still getting incision/bone/chest pain from time to time?? (Perhaps I have over lifted or overworked that area in spite of all my caution!) Week 5, coming into my 6th week, & would like to be writing a great post like Dan Vechiola's in a couple of weeks:) Open... Read more.
It's been 12 days since I had surgery and I am feeling very weird in my chest/incision area. TBH, I just asked about the feelings I am having - if they are normal. I hope you get some good answers - they will help ease my mind.
Will be calling the hospital today. A great nurse left me with her card as I was being discharged. Trusting we will both understand more soon!
Meredith, I am now 16 weeks post OHS for mitral valve repair, and I still have some ache in my sternum. I have done great overall, I am jogging on the treadmill in rehab, back to full activity -- but I still have some mild ache, especially at the top... Read more.
