Hi, I was recently diagnosed with BAV. I have mild stenosis and some leakage. But overall am relatively symptom free. My doc prescribed Entresto as something like a prophylactic medicine to try to stave off the eventual surgery. The entresto seemed to do the opposite of the goal; I became out of breath and cold all the time. I was wondering if anyone else has an experience with entresto for BAV.

Rose Madura I would ask your doctor why you were prescribed this drug. From what I read about it, it is for treatment of heart failure. If you have no symptoms and your stenosis is mild, I don't understand why you would be put on that drug. I could be missing something. Definitely ask why.

Robert Miller I am not sure why you have to take Entresto for BAV. Entresto is used when you have heart failure. Do you have low ejection rate? Is your heart enlarged? Are your arteries narrower to compensate for loss of pressure? If none of those apply then I am not sure why you need to take Entresto. If you have any of those symptoms then a surgery is probably in your near future. As for the symptoms you describe, you should actually feel less out of breath. But it's my understanding it can lower blood pressure so check on that. But don't take any of the above as fact. Instead, talk to your cardiologist and maybe get a second opinion.

Matthew Frankle Thanks Rose / Robert. My symptoms persisted, so I went off the entrestro and am going to a diffierent center. I will see what they say. But I suspect I'm getting closer to surgery at this point.
