Helen Daw Maggie, My grandmother had mitral valve regurgitation and she lived to be 102 without any surgeries. Why worry about something you cannot control. I just had my surgery 11 days ago and it wasn't that bad. I knew about my mitral valve when I was 16, but never worried about it till it started changing to severe. All the best to you!

Maggie Valenzuela Thank you all! Your words help me. The internet can be very scary. I google this and all I hear, and from doctors, that it is harmful. They all mean when it becomes severe but never exactly say that. I need to stop worrying! Just found out that two aunts have had this for over 40 years and it is still mild. They are in their late 70’s.
My husband just suffered from cardiac arrest, he’s 43, it’s genetic and it heightened my fear. I need to relax! He survived and is doing well, but it did create panic in all of us.
