Hi All,
I'm Kat from the Philippines. I was searching for online community of patients who have valve issues and i came across this site. I cannot find any local online community in the Philippines though.
I was diagnosed with severe aortic regurgitation 2 years ago. Since i don't have symptoms yet, my cardiologist advised me not to undergo surgery yet. We will just monitor my conditions if i develop any symptoms.
As i was doing my online research last year i came across this website. I found the contents of this site very helpful and reassuring. It helped me overcome the fear and uncertainties that i was feeling.
I have been skimming through some journals and success stories posted here and it helped a lot to calm me down. I also purchased Adam's book and have been reading it for quite sometime. Its very informative and relevant.
The past week i have been having symptoms like shortness of breath even with minimal exertion, difficulty breathing at night, chest pains and lightheadedness.
Im thinking i might be needing the surgery soon. I'm currently working in Vietnam and will be going back to the Philippines to see my cardiologist in 3 days.
I'm glad to be a part of this community and be able to share my own journey with you.
God bless.

Brian Stugart All the best to you Kat! Ask LOTS of questions! I am very thankful my wife stressed to my doctors about my symptoms as I kind of down-played them. She made sure they listened and understood! Be assured you're not alone.

W. Carter Kat, thats how the symptoms start with shortness of breath and trouble sleeping because of it. Also you might notice some swelling in your ankles. Tell your cardiologist and he might prescribe you Furosemide (Lasix) to get rid of the fluid build up. I have been on it for 4 yrs. now and it works pretty well. It sounds to me like you may be needing surgery soon. Heart surgery is really nothing to be scared of. You will be better off for it. Good luck and God bless!
kat norico Thanks for the valuable tips and inputs Brian and W! God bless you.;)
