It seems that I will need mitral valve repair for a bileaflet barlow valve in the near future. I hope it will be successful, but it's necessary to chose plan B just in case. In case of replacement, I'm not sure whether to go with tissue or mechanical. I'm really afraid of anti-coagulants and I understand there's been progress on the durability of the tissue valves. Then again, it might be best to avoid the possibility of another open-heart surgery. I neglected to mention that I'm 50 and otherwise healthy. I would appreciate some guidance guidance. Thanks!
