Hi Everybody! New Member here. 69 year old male having an aortic valve replacement along with an aorta aneurism repair. Date not set as I'm having major dental work on September 5, 2024 that I now understand is necessary prior to having heart surgery. I'm assuming surgery sometime late September or October. Valerie Allen Hi Jamie, when getting my clearance for surgery from my dentist, I was found to have a tooth infection. The tooth had to be pulled then a course of antibiotics, then a recheck about 3 weeks later to be sure it was cleared up. And the dental surgery clearance finally given. My aortic valve and aneurysm were just at the point of needing surgery so this worked out fine. Welcome to the group.

Larry Peterson Hi Jamie - I'm 68 and had the same surgery here in Wisconsin last November. When I had my dental exam prior to surgery, I had an infection above a tooth that they thought could be treated with a root canal. Halfway through the root canal, they decided it wouldn't work and had to extract the tooth. Expensive procedure. But important! You will have a heart catheterization before the surgery too; fortunately mine showed no blockage of coronary arteries. Welcome to the group here - lots of knowledge in this group.
