At seventeen days old I was dignosed with what I was always told was just a heart murmur nothing to worry about .I would go once a year the musc in charleston sc to have the ekg and the ultra sounds done until I aged out at eighteen .Now the journey stopped for awhile I didn't start back seeing a cardiologist until was 35 and that was the pushing of my wife to go so I went and from the first visit he wanted to cut and replace my arotic valve. All this started in 2006-2007 he didn't know how hard headed I was and I keep him at bay for a good ten years until my wife wanted to go with me to a visit and between both of them I gave in and agreed to have the heart cath done everything was good except the valve .So on 05/16/2017 I had the valve replaced with the bovine stayed in hospital four days before I went home. It's been five weeks now I've had a bout of what the emergency room doc said was pvc's other than that it's been good. I do want to say one thing just take it slow it's gonna take some time trust me I was expecting be up and going in a couple days after getting home wrong. It's the five week mark now and I'm still weak some days and would rather sleep than do anything. So for all the people here who are getting ready to have surgery may god bless you and be with you through the surgery and your recovery.

Phyllis Petersen I had a mitral valve repair, done minimally invasive and robotic, but it still took time to get my energy up. Are you going to be going to cardiac rehab? That helped a lot, especially since I could push more knowing that I was being monitored and there was a crash cart in the room. I'm 8 months out and only really started to feel more myself in the last month. Everyone is different. You're on the better side of surgery and, as hard as it is, you're going to need to be patient and just keep working to improve.

Rita Savelis I was told pre-surgery that I would feel tired for a LONG time. I was so glad that I was given this information by surgeons because I think otherwise I might have felt that something funky was going on with me rather than realising that trauma (surgery) to your heart reverberates in every part of your body and it is normal to take time to recover. It's not about you, it's the nature of the beast.
Everybody turns a corner at their own rate.
Take care.
