George Gardopee Hi Ishrat. I had a follow-up appointment (which included an EKG and drain tube stitches removal) with Dr Gillinov’s PA about 2 weeks after my surgery. My son drove me to Cleveland for the appointment - for us it was only about a 2 hour drive. I did not see Dr. Gillinov during the appointment. All the follow-up since has been done with my local cardiologist. Others who traveled longer distances have sometimes done all their follow-up with their local doctors; some stayed in the Cleveland area for an extra week to have their post-surgery appointment at the CC. I suppose if there are no complications the follow-up could be done closer to your home.

Neal Syverson Hi Ishrat. I had mitral valve repair at Cleveland Clinic. It was 4.5 hours away. Surgery on a Wednesday. Released from hospital one day later than expected on Sunday. Had follow up with Surgeon on Monday. Drove home on Tuesday. I had a few telemedicine appointments with CC and others with my local providers after returning home.
